The confidential financial statement form is very very important because it may be a decisive factor during the visa interview. With every application you will get a confidential financial statement which is necessary to complete your application. Let us discuss some other important documents which one should make ready before applying to universities. First and foremost thing is your transcripts. Apply for transcripts from your college as early as possible. Usually college will charge some fees for transcripts. My college charged 300 for first copy and 100 each for subsequent copies. All denominations are in rupees only ofcourse! Each university requires two copies of transcripts  so if you are planning to apply for eight universities you get around 20 copies. If you are in the middle of your study you can get transcripts upto the semester you have studied. In that case the universities will give you conditional admit only and the admission is confirmed once you have sent the final transcripts. Take care the transcripts and sealed by your college. First I want to make you clear from whom all you can get reco..  You can get reco from professors and lecturers under whom you have studied. You can also get reco from your guide under whom you have done your research project You can also get reco from your previous employers. If you are given the task of writing your own reco then make sure you highlight your achievements. Dont shy to highlight them. Give more practical examples which occured in your class. For example if you are writing that ” this student is good in oral communication” then support it with some practical example about the seminar which you took in your class ans quote that it got wide recognition. Like wise dont forget to include a line for recommending you for financial assistantship. Every graduate school will look for that. Then show the reco to the professors get their approval. Take a printout in their letter head attach the the reco form which each university have, Put it inside a neat white envelope, Paste it and get sign and seal from the professors. Now your reco letters are ready. Dont forget to get their contacts like email, phone no, and designation as graduate schools need them in their application.

First chose your recomenders well. Be sure that they know you very well. It always advisable to to chose around five recomenders. Go and talk to them. Tell about your field of interest clearly.  Make sure them they know your potential well. Take recos from eminent persons in that field. For example a reco from dean or professor is more valuable than a junior lecturer. But keep in mind its the reco they give matters a lot. So if a professor doesn give you a nice reco you can always get it from a lecturer. But in most cases you will be asked to draft your reco and  professors will edit it and give.
